Hardwood Floor Refinishing in Dunwoody, GA
For a Dunwoody refinishing project, a sound work sequence matters as much as color. This guide focuses on deciding which rooms can be out of use and what must happen before the furniture returns.
ATL Rundown is operated by Final Floors LLC. Project inquiries go to Final Floors, not a contractor comparison marketplace.
What hardwood refinishing in Dunwoody includes
Worn, dull or scratched hardwood doesn't always need replacing. Final Floors sands, recoats and fully refinishes hardwood floors with a finish selected for the floor condition — reviving the wood you already own instead of tearing it out. This guide applies that work to a Dunwoody property: separate recoating from full refinishing, access and the scope you confirm before the estimate.
- Full sanding & refinishing or lighter recoating
- Stain matching to your existing hardwood
- Dust containment during sanding
- Clean transitions between refinished and existing rooms
- An honest assessment of whether a recoat or full refinish fits your floor
Separate recoating from full refinishing (Dunwoody)
The floor’s condition and existing finish determine whether a limited finish treatment is suitable or sanding and repairs are needed.
- Point out scratches through the finish, discoloration and moving boards.
- Identify engineered wood and prior sanding where known; not every wood floor can be sanded again.
Make a realistic occupancy plan (Dunwoody)
Staging by room may leave finish boundaries or create repeated moves. Compare that tradeoff with clearing a connected area.
- Mark doorways and hallways that cannot be blocked without another arrangement.
- Plan pets, furniture and access around the agreed work zones.

- 2Prep & dust containment — the work area is sealed before sanding begins
- 3Sanding — the old finish comes off down to bare wood
- 4Stain & finish — review samples, confirm the selected color and apply the agreed protective finish
- 5Walkthrough — you approve the finished floor before we wrap up
